“The Sabarmati Riverfront Development Project will transform Ahmedabad’s historic riverfront into a vibrant and vital focus for the city.” – Narendra Modi.
The Riverfront development project encompasses both banks of the Sabarmati river for a 10.5 Km stretch, creating an approximate of 185 hectares of reclaimed land. The key element of the project is a new linear 2 level promenade. The lower promenade with a width of 10 meters, built just above water level serves to provide pedestrians an uninterrupted access to the riverfront. The upper promenade hosts a variety of public buildings, cultural and educational institutes, public parks and plazas and other commercial development. The riverfront is well connected to the main city owing to the new traffic infrastructure in place for accommodating the Riverfront patrons.
The riverfront has it all. Invigorating morning strolls to lazy picnics by the river; An open air fine dining experience to adrenaline pumping water sports; From a culturally enriching music theatre or art festival experience to moonlit walks under a starry sky. |
